Productivity Improvement
Productivity improvement can be measured in a number of ways, however, we use the improvements against a reference period, e.g. 4-12, weeks prior to commencement of any project and is measured in a number of ways:
- Increased Output
- Reduction in labour hours
- Reduction in manpower
- Space saving
- Reduction in the number of shifts
- Reduction or elimination of overtime
The savings could be a combination of the above criteria, with the prime results being reduction in unit labour cost and an increase in parts per man hour (PPMH).
We estimate that if no work measurement has been carried out, or time standards have not been up dated for a number of years, at least a 15-20% improvement in productivity could be achieved by an Industrial Engineering investigation.
